Shalom in Yeshua,
As many of you know already, there has been a lot of persecution against Believers just north of us in Orissa and now south of us in our own province here in India. The attacks have not stopped and now another 40 Churches have been attacked over the last few days. Our plan is to get as many of our Bible Students out of this area and get them to safety in Sri Lanka.
Church Burning in Orissa
Many of our students fear that they’ll not only be attacked by the Hindus but also be offered up as human sacrifices to the pagan Hindu gods. Other then the thousands of attacks on Believers, these sacrifices are on the rise. This Hindu black magic has just been reported by the Deccan Chronicle, which is the newspaper for this area. They have reported 44 cases of sorcery rites and ritualistic murders here in Andreh Predesh. In one nearby village there were 8 people killed in this fashion. Christians and children are their main targets. Hindu Television and movies have encouraged these ritualistic murders and the government is doing nothing to curb the violence.
Hindu Practicing Black Magic
There are different “types” of black magic used here such as Baanamathi, which focuses on the use of various chemicals in their practice. Then there is also Vipra-vinodi, a form of black magic which concentrates on hand skills and other tantric philosophies. Voodoo is also on the rise due to India being close to the African nations and it is also coming from Indonesia.
It isn’t just the uneducated here that are part of this demonic practice. Supreme Court judges, Prime Ministers and Presidents of India subscribe to its belief. This gives rise to Gurus who say they can protect others from it’s power, such as Swami Sathya Sai Baba, who has 1,200 Centers in 114 countries worldwide. The number of Sathya Sai Baba adherents is estimated at around 6 million.
We thank you all for your support, if you’d like to contribute to what we’re doing here in South Asia you can donate at www.torahlight.org and please make a note that it’s for our India ministry.
